Whether for sport, food or both, deer hunting holds the highest percentage of hunters, some of which whom remain loyal deer hunters year after year.
Step 1 is to attain your hunting license as soon as possible. Don't risk missing opening day because of an unexpected set back.
Next scout and research your desired hunting grounds. Check online for topographic maps and aerial photos to locate possible deer trails, beds and predict where other hunters may be entering the fields. Also consider where a tree-stand can be placed that will be downwind and as high as possible.
Food plots can give you a leg up on other hunters to attract the most deer. Set up a .5–2 acre area with sugar-rich foods that will attract deer through the winter. We sell everything you need to start a food plot area, including the seed and the spreader that attaches to your ATV or UTV!
Set up trail cameras every 50–100 acres and about 10–15 feet from a deer path. We sell a wide variety of trail cams for you to pick from!
Make sure your bow strings and cables are in good shape or replaced if questionable. Sight-in your bow and stock some extra practice shots and broadheads. Don't forget to sharpen your field dressing knife.
Lastly, prepare a small kit that includes: first aid supplies, lighter, flashlight, food, water, map and a fully charged cell phone.
Don't delay, visit your local Rural King Supply for all your hunting gear, accessories, tools and key items... and then come back when it's time to process all that venison.
