In suburban Chicago, in the 1950's, there once was a metalworker named George who worked at Weber Bros., a metal fabricator company that produced buoys. One day, George cut the buoy in half, put a grate inside, and then used the top half as a lid. Behold! A grill named Weber was born and backyard grilling took off.
While some people enjoy grilling throughout the year, summer is when grilling is at its most popular. Deciding what kind of grill to buy may be just as important as what you decide to grill on it.
Charcoal:
These grills are known to have an amazing smoky flavor and are easy to travel with you. The trade-off: however, is that they are harder to clean and takes longer to heat up.
Gas:
By far the most popular choice among backyard grill masters due to so many size options and manufacturers—including Weber. They are easy to learn and use, easy to clean, and heats up quickly, but you lose the smoky flavor that charcoal provides.
Smokers:
These can be expensive but allows intense flavor and has a very large cooking area. A great choice to come home to dinner ready after a long day outside; pros and enthusiasts make these their choice grill.
Portable:
These can be ideal for those who like to travel with their grills or have a small outside setup area, like at an apartment and some condos. They are simple, but can still feed a family making it worth having.
Wood Pellets:
The smoker taste and features, but without all the work. Set the temperature and cook time and walk away. These grills give you the smoky flavor, are easy to use, and heats up fast. They do need an electric outlet and come with a high price tag, but allows those access to an easy smoker quality meal without the learning curve.
From meat to veggies and even pizza, grilling is a process that's always cooking up something good.
