Have you cleaned your grill lately? Just a few minutes and a few easy maintenance steps can assure a safe grilling experience.
Before cleaning any grill, make sure it is completely cool.
1. Open the lid and remove the grates.
2. Then, carefully remove the flavorizer bars to expose the burner tubes. Make sure you use gloves for protection.
3. Using a clean, stainless steel wire brush, brush the burner tube perpendicular to the length of the tube to clear the ports of debris.
This step should be done at least once a year.
4. Scrape the inside of the cook box using a plastic putty knife. Make sure to push the debris into the grease tray.
5. Remove the grease tray. Scrape any debris that is not already loose and empty grease tray. Check this each time you grill. Excess grease can cause a fire!
6. Remove the catch pan, dispose of the drip pan, and replace it with a new one. Make sure to wipe down the catch pan before you put a new drip pan into it. The put the catch pan back into place under the grill.
7. Finally, always make sure to perform a gas leak test when connecting a new propane tank to the grill. Make sure all burner knobs and the tank valve are in the off position. Connect the hose to the tank, and apply a soapy water solution to the connection. Turn on the tank valve. If bubbles form, there is a leak. If you have a leak, do not use the grill. Contact your local Rural King Supply for a new tank.
